Chiefs playoff hopes, dreams, and aspirations

The Chiefs cannot secure a division title or playoff birth this week. However, a win would increase their chances from 74% to 95%, and then a win next week against the Miami Dolphins would secure a playoff birth and the division. If the Chiefs manage to win out, they’ll likely end up with the #4 seed behind the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The 4th seed and a division title would mean the Chiefs get another chance to host a playoff game in back-to-back seasons for the first time in franchise history. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, they don’t exactly have a great record in home playoff games. Currently the Chiefs are 2-5 all time in home playoff games. For context in away games the Chiefs are 5-8, so it’s safe to say the Chiefs don’t have a glorious history of playoff wins.

Playing win a playoff predictor got me in a situation where the 10-6 Baltimore Ravens travel to K.C. for their first playoff rematch since their first matchup in 2011. It was the one and only time Todd Haley and Matt Cassel managed to get us to the playoffs behind the sensational play of Jamaal Charles and the NFL’s top rushing attack. This is quite a different team since then, and same goes for the Ravens. If you want to see how I ended up in this situation and my predictions for the rest of the season. Follow the link HERE.

So all in all, if the Chiefs last two performances are to believed, the Chiefs are back baby! And I’m starting to let myself believe. If the defense can step up and the offense continue to make noise. This team will be dangerous no matter who they face.
