The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that playoff tickets for a potential home game in January will go on sale on Wednesday.
Without wanting to jinx anything, NFL teams must begin to prepare for the possibility of postseason play and given their 6-3 record, that puts the Kansas City Chiefs right in the middle of such preparations. There’s no doubt that the team’s entire staff, from ticket sales to community relations to vendors, are making the necessary moves to be ready for a potential game (or more) at Arrowhead Stadium this winter as the Chiefs look ready to not only make the playoffs but to even host a game.
The Chiefs currently sit at No. 3 overall in the AFC, one game behind the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers. While the Chiefs have an easier schedule on the second half, the same can be said of those teams above them, especially the Steelers, who pretty much decimated the Tennessee Titans in the only real challenging game left on their schedule. While the maxim of “any given Sunday” is true, the reality is that the Pats and Steelers control their fate.
If these standings hold true, then that means the Chiefs will not receive a first round bye. However they will be fortunate enough to host a playoff game. Whether or not Arrowhead can provide the home stadium boost needed to move on to the next round remains to be seen, but for those of you looking to attend a home playoff game—and who doesn’t fit that category?—you can also start making plans now. Here’s what you need to know:
When do tickets go on sale? Wednesday, November 22 at 10:00 a.m. C.T.
What games are on sale exactly? Wild card and divisional round games will both be on sale to the general public at the same time. The Chiefs will, of course, refund any tickets for a game that isn’t scheduled.
When would those games be played? The AFC wild card game would be on either January 6 or 7, and the divisional round would be the following weekend, January 13 or 14. The AFC Championship game and any necessary details won’t be released until later.
Are there any pre-sale opportunities? Yes, season ticket holders have actually already been given the chance to purchase tickets, and Jackson County residents also have a special pre-sale opportunity. If you’re a member of Chiefs Kingdom Rewards, you will also have a chance to purchase ahead of the general public.
You can find a full range of details here for not only those pre-sale opportunities but much more about the Chiefs playoff ticket availability.
