We talked with Eric Eager from Pro Football Focus on the podcast, who helped us take a deeper look at the Kansas City Chiefs across the board.

The Kansas City Chiefs should be headed back to practice today as the bye week is officially over and they should be getting back to work. The coaches and I’m sure the quarterbacks have been back in the office watching tape and preparing for this New York Giants team. Whether or not the Giants game should be competitive becomes the question as they head into the game.

On paper the talent of the Giants looks like it could be a good match up. To this point though the Giants, kind of like the Chiefs at times, have not lived up to that talent. Eli Manning may be mostly done playing in the NFL and the Giants are also starting to ponder the future of their head coach. This game shouldn’t be close if you look at how the teams have played this season. The Chiefs also hold a decided advantage coming off a bye week. Reid has generally been great coming off the bye week so I think that trend continues.

The question that Kansas City will face moving forward is what happens if they continue to stumble. If Smith has a couple more bad games in a row does that change their approach? Should it open up the possibility of moving on? I don’t expect that it’s something that many are pondering right now but the thought has to be there if they get close to .500, especially with the schedule they have coming up. The Chiefs are primed to win the division but they have to play more consistently and if they can do that there aren’t many limits to how far they can go.
