In a year where the Chiefs have simply extended their ongoing run of success under Andy Reid, there’s been plenty of surprise subplots.

You wouldn’t think there would be this many surprise subplots for the Kansas City Chiefs. After all, their current 6-3 record is indicative of the kind of average season the Chiefs have enjoyed every year since 2013. Going 6-3 at this point is becoming expected in Kansas City, so you would think the Chiefs were simply doing what they always do, winning games as they always have, and that continuity was the storyline of the season.

Instead, the Chiefs have maintained their winning tendencies even as they’ve completely flipped their personality. What was once a punishing defense paired with an efficient offense has now become an offensive powerhouse capable of scoring at any given time and a questionable defense with several holes.
