We bring back Seth Keysor from Arrowheadpride.com to talk about the game against the Dallas Cowboys and Alex Smith’s play.

Another veteran got released on Thursday. The Indianapolis Colts released veteran corner back Vontae Davis after he decided to have surgery on his groin. He’s been injured for the past couple of weeks but playing through it. After getting a second and third opinion he had opted for season ending surgery. Thursday morning, it was announced that he would be released. This is the second player that could be a help for the Chiefs in two days.

Tight end Martellus Bennett who was released by the Green Bay Packers was claimed by the New England Patriots. The Patriots have plenty of experience with Bennett in the past and know what they are getting by bringing him back. While Bennett and his play had fallen off this year he could add something to the Patriots offense.

Both Bennett and Davis could have helped the Chiefs but more than likely Kansas City will have to work on changing their fortunes with the players already on their roster. Kansas City has plenty of players on their roster that have the ability to step up. The question is where will it come from. Defensively the Chiefs need the defensive line to play better and for the back field to play better as well. Offensively, continuity on the offensive line should really help them get back on track. Missing two starters for multiple weeks set the team back but they should be able to get past it. As long as Alex Smith keeps playing at a near elite level Kansas City’s got a chance to go much deeper into the playoffs.
