Matt Derrick from Chiefs Digest returns to give us another inside look at the Chiefs and what they will be working on during the bye week.

With the Chiefs players on a break many in Chiefs Kingdom are speculating how the Chiefs can improve on their season over the bye week. There are a couple of corners that are out on the free agent market. Sam Shields and Antonio Cromartie are the biggest names left out there at this time. It’s possible the Chiefs could make a move and bring in a veteran corner but I doubt it happens.

One of the most surprising roster moves recently involves another former Green Bay Packer. The Packers released tight end Martellus Bennett on Wednesday afternoon leaving many to wonder what is going on with the tight end. What is not known right now is why he was released. The report is that it was with a failure to disclose an injury. What that really means for the player is unknown at this point but I know there are a lot of Chiefs fans that would like to see him in KC.

More than likely the Chiefs will stay pat during the bye week. The trade deadline has passed and most of the players left at this time of year are there for a reason. The Chiefs also don’t have a ton of cap space to work with so it would limit what they could offer to someone. Kansas City has a lot of the pieces needed to be a better team. The coaches need to do a better job using the pieces they have and Kansas City should pick up more wins then losses down the stretch.
