The Kansas City Chiefs continue to deal with multiple injuries as starting wideout Chris Conley is now out with an Achilles injury.

Even as they power through their schedule and remain the NFL’s only undefeated team left for the second week in a row, the Kansas City Chiefs are taking their serious hits along the way. Late in Sunday night’s win over the Houston Texans, the Chiefs lost wide receiver Chris Conley with an Achilles injury on a non-contact play in the fourth quarter.

The turf at NRG field is likely to blame for the injury. Even worse, Conley is likely gone for the season given the nature of the injury. Achilles injuries are becoming a serious concern for the Kansas City Chiefs. Derrick Johnson has overcome two such injuries in just the last few seasons. Eric Berry was lost for the year due to the same, a ruptured Achilles in Week 1. Now Conley will likely face the same long timeline that will keep him out the rest of this season.

Conley has emerged as the Chiefs most reliable wideout across from Tyreek Hill. Conley’s well-rounded ability as well as his incredible athleticism made him not only a strong target for Smith as he went through his progressions, but he was also playing more snaps than even Hill overall as a team leader and solid blocker.

Conley had 11 catches for 175 receiving yards so far this season, his third in the NFL. Conley was the Chiefs third round pick out of the University of Georgia back in the 2015 NFL Draft.
