The Kansas City Chiefs have serious help on the way
By Matt Conner
Parker Ehinger
Ehinger’s return is inevitable in the next week or so. Given the need for healthy bodies along the Chiefs offensive line, Ehinger is going to be welcome sight for Andy Reid and his coaching staff. Consider that the Chiefs lined up three backup players at every interior line spot for nearly the entire game on Monday Night Football and that tells you all you need to know. That’s not intended to be a slight on those particular players. Rather it’s just the reality that the starters would allow for the offense to do everything they’ve trained to do.
For now, Bryan Witzmann, Jordan Devey and Zach Fulton have done an admirable job to keep the chains moving in the interim. Now, however, it’s time for some of the starters to return and resume their responsibilities. Ehinger, the starter at left guard last year, is going to be the first man back for the Chiefs, forcing the Chiefs to make a decision on Witzmann’s role and growth. Those are good problems to have, of course.
