Former Kansas City Chiefs safety Kurt Coleman will be forced to miss some time after spraining an MCL in Week 4.

For those of you interested in keeping up with familiar faces even after they’ve left the Kansas City Chiefs, we have some unfortunate news concerning former Chiefs safety Kurt Coleman, who will be forced to miss some time after spraining his MCL.

Coleman played a single season for the Chiefs back in 2014, but it was a memorable year as he played far above the expected level after signing as a free agent with John Dorsey. Coleman played in 15 games for the Chiefs that season, starting 3, and had 37 tackles, 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and 6 passes defended.

Coleman parlayed that single breakout season into a new deal with the Carolina Panthers where he has remained a valuable performer in the secondary. Through four games this season, Coleman has 20 tackles but has yet to grab an interception. However, Coleman has 11 takeaways over the last two seasons, including an incredible 7 interceptions in 2015. It took a few years, but Coleman is definitely an above average performer who will be missed.

As for the Chiefs side, Coleman is one of a few low-risk signings in the secondary that worked out brilliantly for former general manager John Dorsey. It’s a list that also includes Tyvon Branch, Daniel Sorensen, Husain Abdullah and more.
