We recap the Chiefs moving to 3-0 on the year in a game that was difficult to watch for most of the second and third quarters.

Running back Kareem Hunt continues to be one of the best players on the Chiefs offense. His 172 rushing yards and game ending 69-yard TD run put the game away for Kansas City. In a game where Travis Kelce was only targeted once for a single catch and 1 receiving yard in the first quarter, the Chiefs needed the running game to be something they could hang their hat on. Tyreek Hill started the game quickly with a 30 yard TD on a great post pattern, but wasn’t called upon most of the rest of the game.

The story of the game was the play of the Chiefs defense, especially early on. Terrance Mitchell picked Rivers off twice after only having two INTs in his career coming into the game. Marcus Peters also got his first pick of the season and almost caught two more later in the game. The defense made Rivers uncomfortable from the start of the game and was able to not let up. Houston added a late sack to help put the game out of reach.

There are a couple injuries to worry about moving forward. De’Anthony Thomas injured his shoulder making a play on special teams. Having him miss time makes will be a little concerning with Hill being so big on offense. On the defensive side of the ball Dee Ford came out early in third quarter and didn’t return. Ford missing extended time early in the season will be very difficult to handle. Frank Zombo is a very good and sound player but he doesn’t provide much pass rush.
