Kareem Hunt bails out the Kansas City Chiefs offense
The Chiefs are 3-0 and that should be celebrated. The game on Sunday was about as frustrating as a win can be at times (don’t even get me started on THE PENALTIES), but the bottom line is that the Chiefs have shown that they can win in several different ways. We should all be excited about their potential this season despite the fact that they had some issues against the Chargers. There may not be another player in the NFL that a team should be more excited about than Kareem Hunt.
Hunt is averaging 133.7 yards per game through three games and no other running back in the NFL is averaging more than 100 yards per game. He’s also fourth in the NFL among running backs with 45.7 yards receiving per game. He’s tied for first in the NFL with four rushing touchdowns, and he’s also tied for the NFL lead in total touchdowns with six. It’s a small sample size but Hunt has been on an all time great level through his first three games. Just how good, you might ask. Through three games Kareem Hunt is on pace for….
2139 yards rushing (8.5 yards per carry)
731 yards receiving (15.2 yards per catch)
32 touchdowns
He has just been insanely good. Just to help your Monday seem a little brighter, here are a few tweets with more Kareem Hunt goodness.
That’s impressive, but not quite as impressive as this one:
The most yards from scrimmage through three games of any player in the past 37 years? Wow.
I could keep going but I think you get the idea. Kareem Hunt isn’t just having a good rookie season so far. He’s having one of the best rookie seasons in the history of the NFL. I don’t know that it’kís realistic to expect him to keep this up, at least at this level, but I certainly don’t believe this has been a fluke. Kareem Hunt is the real deal. He is nearly impossible to bring down on first contact. He fights for yards every single time he touches the ball. His balance is amazing as he often looks like he is falling and then is suddenly back upright and motoring down field. He catches the ball well out of the backfield and despite scouting reports that said otherwise he has an explosive burst in the open field that make him a threat to break long runs. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.

So what do you think Chiefs fans? Were you as frustrated with the offense as I was on Sunday? Do you agree that they didn’t use Hunt enough on early downs to help prevent third and long situations? Are you as amazed and excited by Hunt as I am? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!
