Former Kansas City Chiefs safety Quintin Demps will be out with a broken arm for the Chicago Bears for the next several weeks.

Former Kansas City Chiefs safety Quintin Demps was part of the Chicago Bears secondary overall this offseason, along with another familiar face with cornerback Marcus Cooper. Together, the pair have shown a knack for great ball instincts and creating turnovers in their years while with (and even after) the Chiefs and the Bears had high hopes for both. Unfortunately Sunday delivered some bad news after Demps was diagnosed with a bone break in his left arm.

Demps and company did a fine job on Sunday to hold the Pittsburgh Steelers to 17 points in a 23-17 win at home at Soldier Field. Demps was credited with 2 tackles on the day. He’s started all three games for the Bears so far this season.

Demps had started 26 games in the last two seasons with the Houston Texans, coming over as a key free agent signing for the Bears. Demps intercepted a strong 7 passes in those years playing behind the Texans stout pass rush, and the Bears were hoping his ballhawking skills would be put to good use behind Akiem Hicks and Leonard Floyd. The Bears now turn to Deon Bush or maybe Eddie Jackson to rotate in at safety as they figure how to reconfigure their pass defense until Demps can return.
