We take a look at the key match ups as the Chiefs head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers on Sunday.

Welcome to another Chiefs Red Friday! Kansas City heads to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers for their first divisional game this season. The Chiefs are 2-0 and coming off of two big wins. Beating the Patriots in Foxboro and the Eagles at home is impressive but they can’t look past the Chargers. Los Angeles will be playing for their season. Going to 0-3 would spell doom in the heavyweight AFC West.

Kansas City had some injury news to report on Thursday. Mitch Morse again missed practice as he will for the next couple of weeks. Justin Houston missed practice and it’s been reported that it was because of an illness. The bigger news for Kansas City is that Reggie Ragland practiced in full for the first time in his Chiefs career. Ragland is probably still a couple of weeks away from being fully ready to play. He still is learning the defense and will need to show he’s fully healthy in order to get on the field on defense.

When you look at this game it comes down to a couple of key match ups. Antonio Gates and Hunter Henry against the Kansas City safeties could prove to be much bigger than anticipated without Eric Berry. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce against the Chargers secondary will be key as well. The Chargers missing Verrett will have a bunch of corners that will struggle with Hill’s speed and Kelce’s size. Alex Smith has to play within his strengths and the Chiefs should be able to move to 3-0 on Sunday even if it’s a close game.
