Takeaways

As I was receiving texts throughout the game asking me what happened to the old Chiefs I thought to myself, this does look like the old Chiefs. Not the old Chiefs that abused the Patriots last week, but the old Chiefs we have grown to expect. A whole bunch of forgettable football splattered with big plays on both sides of the ball.

Kareem Hunt is GOOD. I use bold capital letters because he is that good. He only had 13 carries in the game. That must stop. He appears to have the talent to give the Chiefs big plays on the ground while they hope to get some through the air. My personal opinion is that he will be the best running back in Chiefs history. I know it’s only been two games; call me an idiot.

Chris Jones is a man-child who excels at what he does. The game ball should go to Jones who finished with 3 sacks and an interception. Justin Houston and Derrick Johnson looked healthy and in their prime. Phillip Gaines needs to be held after practices for more reps but the pass defense wasn’t even on their B-game today as Wentz threw for over 300 yards. The run defense looked decent. Give it to Sproles, he can still play.

All in all the Chiefs didn’t play well, nor did they execute well. Missed plays like the deep ball to Tyreek Hill in the end zone and excessive cheating and yellow flags need to be cleaned up. However the Chiefs have played two tough opponents and won both games.

P.S. Slip some Travis Kelce some Lavender. It sure helps calm my brood of children.
