The Kansas City Chiefs faced much stiffer competition than expected in Week 2 with the visiting Philadelphia Eagles.

For three quarters and then some, it looked like the Philadelphia Eagles were in position to potentially upset the Kansas City Chiefs at home. Fortunately for the home team, the fourth quarter iteration of this team is something else entirely, as the Chiefs came alive in all facets of the game in the game’s final several minutes to put the Eagles away in the team’s 27-20 win.

Early on, Doug Pederson looked like he had prepared his team well enough to beat his former mentor in Andy Reid. The Eagles front seven feasted on the Chiefs offensive line throughout as Mychal Kendricks, Fletcher Cox, Chris Long and more enjoyed a sack on Alex Smith. The Chiefs running game took significant time to get moving and the Chiefs offense in general looked pedestrian. At the same time, the defense was doing just enough to keep things close despite giving up chunks of yards to Carson Wentz and company.

All together, both teams traded field goals and the occasional touchdown heading toward the fourth quarter when suddenly the Chiefs ended up shifting into another gear. Kareem Hunt came alive for a touchdown, an incredible 53 yard run that you can see here.

From there, Travis Kelce took over and showcased why his athleticism makes him one of the NFL’s finest.

Kareem Hunt somehow finds a way to muscle in another touchdown minutes later, his second touchdown carry on the day.

From there, the Chiefs defense begins to take over. Daniel Sorensen had 3 quarterback hits on the day. Chris Jones had 3 sacks. Bennie Logan, Dee Ford and Justin Houston all had sacks as well. The Chiefs ended up putting the clamps on the Eagles despite the early challenge provided by the Eagles and ended up with a convincing performance at home to move to 2-0.

The Chiefs next head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers in Week 3.
