Locked on Chiefs: Key match-ups versus the Philadelphia Eagles

facebooktwitterreddit

We take a look at the key match-ups that will decide this game on Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Philadelphia Eagles

On Thursday, the Chiefs injury report had a couple changes to it. Nose tackle Bennie Logan was a full participant in practice on Thursday but Ron Parker was limited. Reggie Ragland and Parker Ehinger remain limited as they both work back from ACL injuries last season.

Kansas City will have a big test in the secondary against this Eagles team. The Chiefs corners played well against the Patriots but the question is at the safety position with the loss of Eric Berry. When Berry would have played the high safety or is lined up in coverage more than likely Eric Murray will take his place. If Berry would have been roaming the middle of the field and closer to the line of scrimmage it will most likely be Daniel Sorensen stepping in. The Chiefs have a couple of options but they must have good play from the back line of defense.

The biggest match-up that could determine how this game goes on Sunday is Chiefs linebacker Dee Ford vs. Eagles left tackle Jason Peters. Peters looks to be healthy enough to play on Sunday after getting injured last week. The key with this match-up is that Ford has to stay stout against the run and get pressure on Carson Wentz. Ford doesn’t have to create sacks on his own but disrupting Wentz from his blind side will be very helpful on keeping the young quarterback off balance. Look for Bob Sutton to get creative in both scheme and blitzes against Carson Wentz.
