The Kansas City Chiefs worked out former Buffalo Bills defensive back Aaron Williams, per NFL analyst Adam Caplan.

Ever since the season-ending injury to Eric Berry, the Kansas City Chiefs are apparently doing their due diligence to know all of their potential roster options moving forward. While there’s no way for one single player to replace Eric Berry’s well-rounded game, the Chiefs are checking in on the best combination moving forward. Most recently they brought in free agent defensive back Aaron Williams for a closer look and workout.

Williams was the second round choice of the Buffalo Bills back in the 2011 NFL Draft, a hard-hitting versatile defensive back from the University of Texas. Williams enjoyed a six-year career with the Bills, but was finally released this offseason after an injury plagued career that never saw him quite reach his perceived pro potential. Over the last two years, Williams played in only 10 total games, starting 8, and a new regime was ready to move on to more dependable players.

Two of those injuries over the years have been neck injuries that ended his season, so it’s somewhat surprising to see Williams still interested in a playing career. Any interested team like the Chiefs would certainly give him a complete physical to make sure he’s healthy, and for now there has been no word of an official signing.

The Chiefs decided to sign veteran safety Steven Terrell earlier this week in response to Berry’s injury. Terrell had been with the Chiefs for the full preseason.
