We have the first preview show of the year for you and breakdown match-ups to watch that will be a key to the Chiefs game plan.

Kansas City has the biggest game on the schedule in week one. When the schedule came out I looked at it and hated opening the season in New England. Now I like the challenge that it creates for this team and the dynamics it entails. The Chiefs had all offseason to plan for this game and have to come out and punch the Patriots in the mouth. Kansas City has to attack from the first kickoff and make a statement on Thursday Night Football.

This game will boil down to a couple of plays most likely. If the Chiefs make those plays they will win and if they don’t they will head home with their first loss. Andy Reid has shown he can scheme up for big games. This will be a big test for Big Red. Alex Smith has to step forward and show that he is capable of keeping this team in contention in big games. Kareem Hunt has to play like he did in college and not get lost on the game’s biggest stage.

Bob Sutton probably has the biggest test of his career in Kansas City. This team that he will play will be the best the Chiefs have played in his tenure. KC’s defense has no more excuses. They have Justin Houston back this year and healthy. They have an upgrade at nose tackle in Bennie Logan and a monster of a young defensive tackle in Chris Jones. Steven Nelson being out hurts but this team is bigger than just one player. They have the depth to play against any team and this is the time to prove it.
