Locked on Chiefs: Spencer Ware likely out for season with knee injury
By Chris Clark
The Chiefs had several players return from injury from Friday night with Justin Houston, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Eric Berry and Terrance Mitchell returned to practice.
The Kansas City Chiefs have likely lost starting running back Spencer Ware for the season. Ware tore his PCL and at least strained his MCL in his right knee and is expected to need surgery. He is waiting to get a second opinion before that is finalized. If he needs surgery, his season will be over and the Chiefs will put him on injured reserve. It will be very hard for the Chiefs to replace his ability to get the tough yards and they will need to find someone effective on the goal line.
First in line for carries is Kareem Hunt. He will get the bulk of the carries but will be helped by Charcandrick West and CJ Spiller. Spiller was also reported to be on the team according to head coach Andy Reid on Sunday. Spiller has looked very good this preseason and brings speed to the running back group that they don’t have otherwise. Between Tyreek Hill and C.J. Spiller the Chiefs could have a lot of speed on the field at the same time this season.

Linebacker Tamba Hali should be coming back from PUP list soon. He was announced as an inactive on Friday night which is the same thing that the KC did with Parker Ehinger before bringing him back a couple of days later. The question is what Hali have when the Chiefs head to New England on September 7th. Without having any snaps at all in the preseason Hali will be coming back with no real game feel headed into the biggest game of the season for KC.
