The Chiefs scratched three players late before the Seattle game when Justin Houston and Tanoh Kpassagnon came down with the flu and Eric Berry was given the night off after soreness.

The Chiefs have stayed pretty healthy through the first couple weeks of the preseason. That could have come to an end with an injury to Spencer Ware in the first quarter against Seattle. Ware needed a cart to be taken off the field. Luckily for Kansas City running back is a position of relative strength. The problem is Ware is their power back and they don’t have another back like him on the roster.

Overall Kansas City played very sloppy football on Friday night. The offense couldn’t get anything going consistently. The first string offense would move the ball a little bit and then either Smith would have a bad throw or the WR or TE would drop the ball. Too much sloppy play to have a chance against a team like the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs showed the ability to move the ball better with the second and third team offense out on the field.

Anytime a game has more penalty yards in the third quarter than a team has it’s not a good situation. At one point in the third the penalty yardage eclipsed the 200 yard mark. This makes it very hard to watch the games let alone evaluate players. The officials ended up calling over twenty-five penalties during the game and still left many on the field. The Chiefs will head back to Kansas City to get ready for the final preseason game.
