3rd and 4th Quarter

Seattle received the opening kick and took the ball straight down the field, allowing the Chiefs defense to keep its now annoying title of bending without breaking. Another Seattle field goal and the Chiefs are down by 9.

Enter Patrick Mahomes. His first play found himself rolling left and throwing across his body to Demetrius Harris for a first down. An unnecessary roughness penalty on Charcandrick West after he showed his disapproval for a facemask and horsecollar not called by the referee sent the Chiefs back for a 3rd and 18. Another rollout by Mahomes resulted in a vicious sack.

This quarter showed us that Mahomes is still green. He tripped over his own feet, threw two straight passes to no one, and the penalties kept coming. He also showed us a bit of we have seen the first two weeks of preseason. Mahomes threw a beautiful pass to Jehu Chesson on 2nd and 19 that was so perfect it had to be challenged.

The 2nd string defense did well against Trevone Boykin, who went 0-6 with an interception. The 2nd string offensive line doesn’t look like a group that wants to be playing football in September.

The Chiefs 3rd string defense helped Austin Davis look like a potential backup for Seattle. Receivers were open all quarter. A Seattle running back you have never heard of looked like an All Pro. Basically the remainder of the game was trash. Tyler Bray did impress however as he kept it simple, hitting Gehrig Dieter on multiple passes and threading a pass to Gavin Escobar, who dropped the very next pass. Not to be outdone Bray fumbled the ball as he was hit from behind. Ball game.
