Dee Ford: 78 OVR
Dee Ford finally showed what he could bring to the table last season. Ford came out of the gate last season on fire, notching 10 sacks in the first half of the season. This included a 3.5 sack performance against the Indianapolis Colts. He also had 38 tackles and two passes defended on the season.
These stats are in line with players that play similar positions but have much higher overalls than Ford. Joey Bosa (88), Aldon Smith (85), Tamba Hali (82), and Shane Ray (79) all finished with overall ratings greater than Ford. One of them, Smith, has not played a single snap in almost two years.
I understand that Ford has struggled to set the edge in run defense, but when comparing him to his peers in the game, this one just is not right. As a player who has doubled his sack total every season he’s played in the NFL, Ford deserves a higher rating and more respect.
