Parker Ehinger returned to the Chiefs from the PUP list and Chris Jones and Eric Berry returned to practice and could play on Friday night.

The Chiefs moved back practice on Monday for about 30 minutes to allow their players the chance to go out and see the solar eclipse. While the players were out looking at the sky, the Chiefs made a move and activated guard Parker Ehinger. Ehinger was able to practice with his teammates for the first time in 10 months after tearing his ACL against the Colts. He will be in a battle with Bryan Witzmann and Zach Fulton for the starting left guard position.

Two more Chiefs players returned to practice as well on Monday, Eric Berry and Chris Jones practiced during the Chiefs non-padded practice. Both players could possibly play on Friday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Berry has practiced already in full at training camp. Jones is still being brought back at a little slower speed and should get some snaps against the Seahawks but I don’t see him playing a lot.

Andy Reid made it very clear at practice today that Alex Smith is the starting quarterback. While I get why he said it, to me it isn’t necessary. Reid, however, made the announcement as he as seen what both quarterbacks have looked like and he doesn’t want the questions. Patrick Mahomes is in position to be the face of this franchise for many years to come. His time to be that face isn’t right now. Mahomes will get his opportunity more than likely next year to start. For now this is Smith’s team and it should be. Smith has looked great in the preseason and he gives them the best chance to go the farthest this season.
