Chiefs vs. Bengals: 3 under-the-radar performers for Kansas City
By Matt Conner
Allen Bailey
Chris Jones hogs the spotlight, and rightfully so, among the Kansas City Chiefs defensive linemen. From there, much of the attention along the defensive front has gone to two new imports: second round choice Tanoh Kpassagnon (who also looked great vs. the Bengals) and free agent run stuffer Bennie Logan. But one player who often goes unnoticed when discussing the Chiefs defense is a familiar face in Allen Bailey.
Bailey missed the bulk of last season due to a shoulder injury, and he was placed on IR in early October. However he’s come back to show that he’s ready to reach the potential displayed with a breakout sort of season in 2015. Bailey is really a rare combination of athleticism, size and strength, and the Chiefs are going to be that much more dangerous if Bailey can return in a major way.
Watch this incredible burst of speed and motor against the Bengals.
Perhaps the best description comes from former Chiefs defensive lineman Mike DeVito.
Imagine a defensive front of Kpass, Bailey and Logan working in tandem with Jones and a bulked-up Rakeem Nunez-Roches. The Chiefs are going to be respected much more for their defensive front than the casual fan might realize.
