Jamaal Charles is set to finally make his debut with the Denver Broncos in Week 3 of the preseason when they face the Green Bay Packers.

Jamaal Charles finally has a timeline. Just days after hearing he would likely not play in Week 2 of the preseason for the Denver Broncos, the former Kansas City Chiefs running back has learned he will be suiting up and playing in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers.

The Broncos signed Jamaal Charles earlier this offseason, shortly after the 2017 NFL Draft, to the shock (and dismay) of many Chiefs fans. The sight of Charles in a Broncos uniform will be tough to stomach for many fans who joyfully watched the former third round pick set Chiefs rushing records.

Despite playing for the Broncos in the preseason, it’s still not clear whether or not Charles will make the team. He will need to prove he’s actually healthy enough to take the wear and tear that a regular season brings for any player, let alone one who has dealt with multiple knee surgeries over the last couple years. Those surgeries (and the question marks about his health that came with it) are what caused the Chiefs to finally turn the page on the Charles era in the first place.

Charles will be competing with rookie De’Angelo Henderson and C.J. Anderson as long as Devontae Booker is out. Stevan Ridley is another veteran who has been brought into camp to compete for a roster spot with Charles.

Charles has only played for the Chiefs in his 9 year career and set career marks of 7,260 rushing yards, 43 rushing touchdowns and NFL best 5.5 yards/carry rushing average.
