Why Alex Smith is being pushed to greatness in 2017

The addition of Patrick Mahomes and the possibility of hitting free agency in the near future has Alex Smith balling out at Chiefs camp.
Okay, the title says greatness. Perhaps that is pushing it. I’m not here to say Alex Smith is going to break records. I’m not saying he has this team headed to the Super Bowl. So what am I saying? It is getting very difficult to overlook what he has been doing in training camp for the Kansas City Chiefs.
This far, he looks the part. Yes, It is just camp. No, we won’t be seeing much of him against the 49ers during the first preseason game of 2017 on Friday. But early reports from St. Joe show Smith already in fine form, forming a strong connection with Tyreek Hill.
If you have kept up with how training camp is going, you have seen the arm of Alex Smith. You have seen the touch. You have also seen the accuracy. So far he is making average players look good, and that is what great quarterbacks do.
