Glenn Dorsey

Now that Peterson had the 12 picks he wanted, it was time to put names to the numbers. With the fifth pick that year, the Chiefs took defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey. Dorsey came into the 2008 draft via a hype machine that purported him to be the next Warren Sapp. There were some mock drafts that had him going as high as the number one pick as the most dominant defensive tackle in college football. His NFL career never came close to living up to the hype. In five seasons with the Chiefs he only recorded 4 sacks and averaged 47 tackles a year. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2013 but his play has not improved and he is currently a free agent.

The next pick in that draft was the selection of Albert, using the 15th pick overall they got with the help of the Allen trade. Albert was a solid player for the Chiefs for six seasons as the anchor of the offensive line. He had his best season as a Chief in 2013 while playing under the franchise tag. That season Jamaal Charles had 1,980 all-purpose yards behind the line led by Albert who made his first Pro Bowl.

After that season, he signed a large five year, $47 million contract with the Miami Dolphins. He made his second Pro Bowl in 2015, and he was a solid starter for the Dolphins despite missing the entire 2014 season with a torn ACL. Against his wishes, Albert was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this year and it was likely his desire to not play for the Jaguars that led to his retirement this week.
