Everywhere you look, the hype is all about the Oakland Raiders. And here I am, doing the same, from a Chiefs fan perspective.

Have you had the pleasure of sitting down in front of your television watching an AFC West Preview on a national network this year? Did you enjoy what turned into a Oakland Raider Special complete with live in-studio appearances?

You likely sat there with what has to be a strange look on your face, similar to the ones I’ve made. Just like any other fan, the chance to get to hear someone talk about your team excites you. In this case the piece is on the AFC West, a division considered to be one of the best in the league. In this case my team, the Kansas City Chiefs, swept this division in 2016. That was just last year—swept—that would be six games won out of six possible games. In this case, it was an hour-long special, and my team was mentioned maybe twice, covered for only 4 minutes.

The Oakland Raiders Special is what it should have been called. I felt duped. Now that training camp has started, if all I did was follow my team on television, I would know more about the Raiders than my own. And here I am, doing the same.

This one is for you Denver Broncos and L.A. Chargers fans as well. Denver still has that fresh Super Bowl smell from just a couple of seasons back. Los Angeles is the baby of the league, moving north from San Diego. Despite the fact that the city couldn’t handle even one team for all of those years, they apparently decided to double down.

On to the Raiders…
