Here’s my first prediction, before training camp begins, of the Kansas City Chiefs final 53-man roster.

Today is the pre-training camp edition and I will be back with updates after this coming weekend and each preseason game.

Offense

Quarterback

Alex Smith – Smith is the starter for at least this season. Quite possible this is his last year in Kansas City but the only person that can control that is the Chiefs 1st round pick.

Tyler Bray – Yes I have Bray as the number 2 at this point. This should change in season but Bray has been here for 4 years and he knows the offense.

Patrick Mahomes – Future of the franchise in Kansas City but he will start the year on the bench.

Running Back

Spencer Ware – Ware will be the starter at least to start the season.

Kareem Hunt – Hunt is going to be a great change of pace back for Kansas City. Given time he could be the started before the year is over.

Charcandrick West – West is in a tough spot. He looked like he regressed last season. If he isn’t back this year he could lose his spot to CJ Spiller if he’s finally healthy.

Fullback

Anthony Sherman – Sherman is around for another season but it could be his last in KC as he is playing a position that just isn’t valued enough in the Chiefs offense or the NFL.

Wide Receiver

Tyreek Hill – Nothing to say.

Chris Conley – Conley has a chance to prove he’s really grown

Albert Wilson – Wilson has the most experience on the team but is also probably the most likely of the 6 to maybe not make the team.

Demarcus Robinson – Robinson should compete for time on the field and if he has a good camp maybe he gets time over Wilson

De’Anthony Thomas – Thomas is the most likely player to end up the punt returner coming out of camp.

Jehu Chesson – Chesson may get playing time later this season but he looks to be a special teams guy at least in his rookie year.

Tight End

Travis Kelce – Superstar. Enough said.

Gavin Escobar – Just a feeling right now. Escobar is here on a prove it deal.

Demetrius Harris – Harris could be the odd man out at TE if KC needs another roster spot.

Ross Travis – Just from what I saw in camp last year I think KC gives him another year.
