Name: Scott Fitterer

Current role: Seattle Seahawks, Co-Director of Player Personnel

Scott Fitterer is currently in the “co-director” role also enjoyed by Borgonzi and Veach, so the Seattle Seahawks will be a bit more okay in terms of leadership stability than if someone solely in that position left the team. That said, losing Fitterer will be a big loss if and when it happens. Fitterer has been mentioned in three General Manager searches so far in his NFL career, so he’s clearly a man who will one day find his nameplate on a GM door somewhere in the NFL.

So far, Fitterer has turned down the Philadelphia Eagles in the same offseason that Doug Pederson said yes and Carson Wentz was drafted. This offseason, he interviewed with the Indianapolis Colts before Chris Ballard took the job and the San Francisco 49ers. He was likely declined the chance to have the role because the team was also chasing Kyle Shanahan hard as head coach, and Fitterer reportedly wanted Tom Cable as his head coach.

That last note makes Fitterer an interesting addition to this whole process. If he remains in, it likely bodes well for the Chiefs that he’s willing to capitulate to having a head coach already in place—and maybe even it’s a statement that having such an accomplished coach in house is actually a positive.

The latest: Fitterer is rumored to be in K.C. on Tuesday and Wednesday for an interview.
