Name: Louis Riddick

Current role: ESPN NFL Analyst

It’s interesting that Riddick’s name continues to float as a possibility despite Riddick’s own insistence on Twitter that the team had not called him with any interest. Riddick could have said he wasn’t interested or that he was not available, but rather he just said, “This right here is not true right now.” That’s a slick way to state the truth in a way that allows for some wiggle room.

If you’re familiar with Louis Riddick as an analyst, you’re likely already convinced that he’s one of the best in the business. He should be, since he spent well over a decade in the front office with the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles in various roles that include Pro Scout and Director of Pro Personnel for both teams. His familiarity and relationship with Andy Reid could make this a smooth transition despite Riddick’s outsider status to the current Chiefs leadership tree.

The main question is whether Riddick would want to leave his role with ESPN for life in a front office once again. Maybe it would help to know that Andy Reid is locked up for the next five NFL seasons and to have the cupboards as overflowing as they are currently. If Riddick continues to deny things, then we can cross him off the list, but until he says, “No, I mean I have no interest,” then there’s some interesting smoke here to investigate.
