Chiefs rumors: Where will Jeremy Maclin play next?

Earlier this week we took at look at how the Chiefs might be able to help provide some support for the Baltimore Ravens given the loss of Dennis Pitta to another injury (and like a career-ending one). Specifically we said that perhaps a trade for one of the Chiefs extra tight ends could come into play, such as Gavin Escobar or Demetrius Harris. Pitta was on the receiving end of well over 100 targets, which means the Ravens, who were already thin at pass catchers, now faced even more question marks. That’s not the say the Ravens’ cupboard is bare or that they lack options, but dependability is something that Ozzie Newsome, the team’s general manager, should be looking to add.
Why it might happen: Clay Hensley of ESPN laid out a great case as to why Maclin would be a great asset for the team at this point, specifically pointing out that the team’s offensive coordinator, Marty Morninhweg, was Maclin’s O.C. with the Philadelphia Eagles for four years. That sort of familiarity and continuity can help elevate one team over another in a situation like this.
Why it might not happen: The Ravens have slightly more cap space than K.C. did before releasing Maclin, which means they’d likely need him to take a one-year deal that would be team-friendly. There’s no real reason for Maclin to give Baltimore such a gift without a stronger tie than an offensive coordinator.
