The Kansas City Chiefs general manager, John Dorsey, has been placed on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame.
These days, John Dorsey is known as one of the finest general managers in the NFL, as the Kansas City Chiefs have become a stable winning franchise in the four years under his leadership in the front office. Yet what you might not realize is that Dorsey was also a helluva college football player, and his career could potentially be celebrated with an induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Dorsey, a University of Connecticut graduate, was an All-American linebacker for the Huskies and was eventually selected in the fourth round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, the same team he would later serve for several years as a scout and personnel executive.
"A four-year starter at UConn (1980-83), Dorsey was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Yankee Conference during each of his final two collegiate seasons and is the all-time leading tackler in the conference’s history. He also earned Division I-AA All-America recognition as a senior and, in 1998, he was selected to the school’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Football Team. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science."
Dorsey’s inclusion on the ballot itself is the first step in a longer process and the competition will be tough, considering there are 74 other players and six coaches also vying for a few coveted spots. The College Football Hall of Fame is located in downtown Atlanta.
