Tim Terry

Former home: Packers
New home: Chiefs

The Green Bay Packers have already provided the Chiefs with the ultimate lifeline in the front office through the gift of John Dorsey, who has proven himself to be among the finest general managers in the business in four short years. Now heading into his fifth year, the Chiefs are not only prepared to defend their AFC West crown with one of the deepest rosters, but they’re also set for the future with a clear franchise quarterback in place behind Alex Smith.

The good news is that Dorsey has been able to restock the cabinet a bit, so to speak, with at least one new arrival who comes with a similar pedigree in Tim Terry. Terry’s exact role is a bit of a mystery, although no one has reported it as such. The Kansas City Star is calling Terry the team’s new Director of Player Personnel, but it also reported that he’s replacing Will Lewis. Lewis was the Director of Pro Scouting, so that’s definitely not a match.

Terry’s experience in Green Bay was most recently as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel, but here’s what’s interesting: the Chiefs already have co-Directors of Player Personnel in Mike Borgonzi and Brett Veach. Is the team now bringing in someone over both of them in a supervisory role or did the titles get switched?

At some point in the near future, the Chiefs will reorganize their staff page or John Dorsey will host a press conference and square all of this information away, perhaps when Terry is officially in place (if there’s any sort of announcement).
