Jamari Staples, WR, 6-3, 195 lbs., Louisville

Stats: 36 catches, 615 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns

What he brings: Louisville’s deep threat earned a comparison to Justin Hunter from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein. He’s a nice downfield option who has the length at 6’3 to make a play on the ball but needs serious coaching to tap into that at the next level, including help on routes, technique and using his body.

Where he fits: CBS Sports compares Staples to Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley as potential high impact wideouts who suffered from offenses who failed to use them properly. Conley has more obvious athleticism and speed, but Staples is a nice flyer to take at the position if you’re putting together a 90-man roster. However it’s a serious long shot to expect Staples to make the final roster.

The Chiefs will only enter the regular season with six likely WRs, and many are already claimed with Chris Conley, Tyreek Hill, Jeremy Maclin and Jehu Chesson. Veterans Albert Wilson and De’Anthony Thomas are the likely two to claim the final spots, but Staples can hope to compete with them alongside other options like DeMarcus Robinson, Tony Stevens, Seantavious Jones, Alonzo Moore, Marcus Kemp and Gehrig Dieter.
