Kicker Garrett Hartley and cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste are in rookie minicamp getting looks from the Chiefs coaching staff.

There are nearly 70 players in Kansas City this weekend, getting looks from the Chiefs coaching staff as they conduct this year’s rookie mini-camp. Amid the new draft picks, undrafted free agents and tryout players, two former New Orleans Saints veterans are hoping to also turn heads of Andy Reid and his staff by participating: kicker Garrett Hartley and cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste.

Hartley is a six-year NFL veteran with 59 games in his career. He has an impressive range, going 6 of 8 from 50+ yards in his career, but he only hit 73% of his field goal attempts during his last full season as a kicker for the Saints in 2013. He was injured during the preseason in 2015 and has been out of the NFL ever since.

Jean-Baptiste is on the same timeline as Hartley, with his last official action during the 2014 regular season. Interestingly enough it was also his rookie season. The Saints invested a second round pick in Jean-Baptiste that spring but the Nebraska product only appeared in four games that season and was cut loose before the 2015 regular season. He spent that entire year on the Detroit Lions practice squad. He was out of the NFL entirely in 2016.
