The Kansas City Chiefs announced the signing of 12 undrafted free agents, including five wide receivers.

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the signing of 12 undrafted rookie free agents in addition to the signing of three of their six draft picks. These 12 players along with several others invited via tryout will join the overall draft class for a rookie minicamp to begin on Saturday and continue through Monday, May 6-8.

Fans will get their first glimpses of the Chiefs rookie class this weekend as players participate in positional drills, conditioning and learn and execute plays. There will be no offense versus defense or any hitting, but it’s at least some level of football and it will fun to see how the rookies perform. Fans will be especially interested to see Patrick Mahomes for the first time in Chiefs colors.

The complete list of undrafted free agents is interesting for its focus on one single position, wide receiver. The Chiefs have plenty of young talent already at the position, with Jeremy Maclin and Tyreek Hill up top along with younger veterans like Chris Conley, Albert Wilson, DeMarcus Robinson, De’Anthony Thomas and Seantavious Jones. They also just drafted Jehu Chesson in the fourth round. Despite all of this, five of the 12 players signed by the Chiefs are wideouts.
