Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey favored to win Offensive ROY

BATON ROUGE, LA - OCTOBER 03: Leonard Fournette

The Vegas odds are officially open at Bovada and Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey are the frontrunners to win offensive ROY.

The official early odds are out from Las Vegas now that the 2017 NFL Draft has been held, and bettors like the chances that Leonard Fournette of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers both landed in the most favorable situations for them. They form a 1-2 punch as the odds-on favorites to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award for 2017, per Bovada.

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is the first quarterback on the list and third overall, which isn’t surprising considering he’s the only rookie quarterback who has already been told that he might be able to start from Week 1.

The Kansas City Chiefs have two players on the list. Running back Kareem Hunt comes in late and Patrick Mahomes even later. Hunt will have a chance to put up some nice stats in Andy Reid’s offense from the outset, but the presence of Spencer Ware on the depth chart will also keep him from standing out like some others who will have the carries and catches all to themselves.

For Mahomes, there’s simply no chance that he even puts up any stats at all unless Alex Smith is injured and, even then, the Chiefs have to be confident they want to go ahead and throw in Mahomes versus Tyler Bray as a short-term stopgap before giving Mahomes the reins for the long haul.
