One NFL.com analyst has graded the AFC West draft classes and believe the Chiefs made the best sleeper pick with Tanoh Kpassagnon.

Conor Orr of NFL.com has put out his official 2017 NFL Draft grades for the AFC West and the Kansas City Chiefs made the “best sleeper pick” of the entire division with their second round choice of Villanova defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon. Orr believes his size and athleticism is underrated and could really be another potential big hit for general manager John Dorsey along the defensive line. Orr writes:

"Some fans are just now getting around to watching the Kpassagnon highlight tapes out of Villanova, which appear to show a full-grown man beating up on kids a third his size and speed. The increase in competition was always going to be a worry for scouts, but the Chiefs also have one of the smartest defensive coordinators in football (Bob Sutton). At the least, Sutton should be able to free the 6-foot-7, 289-pound defensive end and allow him to scare the wits out of an unprotected passer or two this season."

Kpassagnon has to make the leap from FCS-level competition, but Orr notes that he was already a man among boys at that level. Dorsey knows what he’s looking for along the defensive line, as illustrated by the emergence of last year’s second round pick Chris Jones or the waiver wire claim of Jaye Howard.

Almost half of Kpassagnon’s total tackles were for a loss in 2016 (21.5 of 45), including 11 sacks.
