Kansas City Chiefs sign cornerback De’Vante Bausby
By Matt Conner
A familiar face is back with the Kansas City Chiefs with the announcement that the team has re-signed cornerback De’Vante Bausby.
De’Vante Bausby is back in a familiar place with the Kansas City Chiefs. The cornerback has re-signed with the team after being released by the Chicago Bears earlier this week.
It’s also a homecoming for Bausby because he was born in Kansas City. The Pittsburg State product originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Chiefs after impressing John Dorsey in the lead up to the 2015 NFL Draft. Bausby broke his collarbone and then was released that summer.
The Chicago Bears picked him up a few months later and played a bit of roster roulette with Bausby for the next 18 months, moving him between the active roster and practice squad and releasing him before rinsing and repeating. Finally they waived him on Monday.
Bausby should expect to compete for a final cornerback slot with Kenneth Acker, D.J. White and this year’s sixth round choice Leon McQuay as well as any other candidates who emerge from the pack of undrafted free agents who will gather at rookie minicamp beginning on Friday, May 6.
