Pick: 23
Team: New York Giants
Selection: David Njoku, TE, Miami (Fl.)

With the 23rd overall pick the New York Giants select David Njoku, a tight end out of Miami (Fl.). The Giants have some issues on both offense and defense. While drafting a player for the offensive or defensive line makes a lot of sense, Njoku is a little raw but has big upside with the right coaching. The Giants tight ends did not produce much for the team in 2016, and when you have a player like Odell Beckham Jr. on your team, you need to complement him with other playmakers.

Njoku is a big-bodied target at 6-4, 245 lbs. with a speed/strength combination that would be a nightmore for most opponents. That said, he’s still developing as a dependable player. Last year, he had 43 receptions for 698 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns.

Quarterback Eli Manning turns 36 this year and does not have much left in the bank for his career and will be looking for another ring. While Njoku seems like a long shot for the selection at 23, he is a good talent that can turn into something special. The Giants have a lot of needs and will be interested to whom they select, or if they might be willing to trade away their pick to either move up or down in the 2017 NFL Draft. [Nick Floyd]
