TRADE
New Orleans Saints receive: No. 19 overall (1st)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers receive: No. 32 overall (1st), No. 62 overall (2nd, received from Steelers)

Pick: 19
Team: New Orleans Saints
Selection: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee

The Saints trade pick 32 to the Buccaneers to move up to No. 19 to grab Barnett, a good pass rushing defensive end who fills a position of great need. To move up from 32, the Saints give up the second rounder they picked up from Pittsburgh. Much like I mentioned with the Bears, the Saints are in a win now mode as they enter the least season of the Drew Brees era in the Big Easy, (His contract automatically voids after this season, leaving a staggering 19 million in dead cap money.)

Barnett has his detractors, but was a contributor and factor at Tennessee over the past multiple seasons. Barnett would combine with Cameron Jordan as bookend defensive ends, Nick Fairley and last year’s first rounder, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, to form a very solid front. It should also help free up linebackers at the next level. [John McCarty]
