Did you ask former teammates or friends who’ve gone through this for advice on what to do?

Yeah, they told to ask, “Can your family wait or do they need it now?” I wasn’t always fortunate to have everything. To have this opportunity to help my family out and take the weight off of my mom’s shoulders, that’s something I really look forward to.

What communication have you had with the Chiefs?

With the Chiefs, I was supposed to go to the local pro day, but at the same time, I was on a visit to San Fran. Then the coaches wanted me to come in and meet them whenever I’d gotten back, but the communication about the conflicts of meetings didn’t go through, so there was a change of plans.

You’ve taken several visits in various places. Are you hearing things from teams in common about what they want you to work on?

Getting off blocks. In the Big 12, you don’t have to really get off blocks. You run around. You play in the box sometimes, but usually you’re out in space running around in coverage with two receivers and stuff like that. As far as projections I’ve heard is that I could go around the third or fourth round.

Do you feel you have a sense of what teams like you more than others?

Yeah, the most interest I’ve gotten was from the Vikings, the Eagles, the Bengals, the Lions, the Seahawks, the Panthers, the 49ers, the Cardinals, the Jets and the Giants. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

You just named half the NFL. That has to feel good.

Yeah, it does, but I think it will feel even more real when a team picks me. All of the emotions will set in then. It’s something I’ve been working toward and dreaming of for so long. Like I said before, it’s this opportunity to help my family, so I’m ready.
