Former New York Giants defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins got the money and length in a deal that others could not this offseason.
Johnathan Hankins got what he wanted. The former New York Giants defensive tackle was holding out for more money than what anyone thought he could get, and the Giants had a deal on the table for a reported four years and $28 million. Apparently Hankins knew what he was worth in the end because he got what he wanted from the Indianapolis Colts.
Former Giants' DT Johnathan Hankins, the top-rated available free agent, is signing a 3-year, $30M deal with Colts, source tells ESPN.

Hankins ended up getting what other, more heralded defensive tackles could not receive in the free agent market. Weeks after the big spending was supposedly finished, the Colts will pony up what guys like Dontari Poe could not get. The former Kansas City Chiefs lineman was among the most desired free agents along the defensive line, yet Poe settled for a single-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons in the hopes of re-entering the free agent market next season after hopefully showing off more of a pass rush than he did during the last two seasons with the Chiefs.
The Chiefs ended up replacing Dontari Poe with Bennie Logan, a run-stopping defensive tackle to the tune of one-year, $8 million. Poe received the same deal with $2 million more in incentives. Brandon Williams set the top of the market this offseason to remain with the Baltimore Ravens with a five-year, $52.5 million deal.
