Tim Tebow hit a home run in his first minor league game with the Columbia Fireflies, a New York Mets affiliate.
Tim Tebow’s roller coaster of an athletic career is continuing this season with a pursuit of baseball with the New York Mets organization, specifically with their Single-A affiliate, the Columbia Fireflies. Tebow, now 29-years-old, will be playing in left field for the Fireflies, but he might also be doing a bit of this. Check out this magic in his first at-bat of the season.

After a Heisman Trophy winning career at the University of Florida, where he won the national championship twice, Tebow found himself as the newest member of the Denver Broncos as the team’s first round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Chiefs fans will remember how he was plagued by accuracy issues and odd mechanics his entire career, and despite some playoff heroics, he eventually found himself on the outside looking in at professional football.
It will be interesting to see if Tebow’s attempt at baseball is a long-term exercise or something that lasts a single season. Plus, Tebow is hardly the first person to attempt to make a run at baseball despite having another sport known as the primary one—from Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson to Michael Jordan and, well, even Garth Brooks has tried out, also for the Mets, by the way.
If Tebow can hit like this on a regular basis, he might be in line for a promotion. Or, at the very least, the Fireflies might have time to make him a bobblehead giveaway on the right night.
