Branden Albert has given thousands of dollars to help support a Rochester, NY couple who desperately needs child care.
A mother and father who both work as custodians at the Eastview Mall in Rochester, New York are finding themselves at the center of a bit of controversy as well as ongoing support after they were charged with leaving their three young children, including an infant, sitting in an employee hallway while they worked their shifts.
After the pair were charged by police, local citizens in Rochester and elsewhere have come to their aid by citing the rising cost of child care and the lack of resources for most people. One such person to help them is former Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Branden Albert. Albert has already contributed several thousand dollars to the pair to help cover child care via a GoFundMe page that began soon after word of the couple’s plight spread. Albert said he could relate to their situation personally and wanted to help.
"“At least they’re working,” Albert said. “At least they were out doing something in trying to provide for the family. Was it the best thing to do? No. People are looking for hope and if I can provide hope the best way I can, I don’t have any hesitation in helping people out.”"
To date, the fundraising website has brought in over $18,000 for the family’s needs and expenses along with an impressive display of support for other items for the children to be shipped in such as clothing and toys.
