Former Chiefs cornerback Brandon Carr has a new home with the Baltimore Ravens.
Brandon Carr has joined his third NFL team by reaching an agreement with the Baltimore Ravens on a new four-year deal after spending the last few seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. The deal is worth a reported $24 million.
Carr signed a 5-year, $50 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys back in 2012, cashing in big after leaving the Kansas City Chiefs, the franchise he entered the NFL with. Carr was a fifth round choice in the same draft class as Brandon Flowers, giving the Chiefs a longtime Brandons tandem in the secondary, both of which eventually earned lucrative deals on the free agent market,.
In Carr’s nine year NFL career, he has 15 career interceptions, including 1 last season. Most importantly for the Ravens is that Carr has never missed a single start in that entire time, lining up for all 16 starts as a rookie for the Chiefs in 2008 and hasn’t missed a start since. After only registering a single takeaway in the last three seasons, the Cowboys have decided to let him go along with other veterans like cornerback Morris Claiborne and safety Barry Church.
Speaking of Claiborne, the Ravens were reportedly in on him as well to the tune of $5 million annually, per Jason La Canfora, but clearly they decided to sign his teammate instead. Carr joins Tony Jefferson as two new starters in a remade secondary for the Ravens. Carr will likely line up outside opposite Jimmy Smith and join last year’s rookie Tavon Young as the top pass defenders on the team.
