Nick Foles could be heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a back-up role behind Jameis Winston, per recent reports.

The latest word from Pro Football Talk is that Nick Foles’ new home might be quite a bit warmer than his last few stops. After a single season playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, the veteran quarterback might be headed for Tampa to play for the Buccaneers behind incumbent starter Jameis Winston.

Signing Foles, who the Chiefs released on the eve of free agency, would give the Bucs a reliable back-up who could even start if needed. Foles provided security for the Chiefs and displayed potential starting ability when subbing in for Alex Smith in 2016, winning his only start and throwing 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in limited duty. Foles also owns a career record of 20-16 as a starter, although he’s never been given more than 11 starts in a single season.

Foles was released by the Chiefs to create much-needed cap space and is likely to command decent money as a back-up along the lines of $7 million.
