Talented running back D’Onta Foreman was kept from running at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Friday due to a stress fracture in his foot.

The Kansas City Chiefs are likely among the teams keeping close tabs on the top running backs in Indianapolis who are working out during the 2017 NFL Combine. Unfortunately, one of the selections in attendance, D’Onta Foreman, will not be able to work out after all.

Foreman’s stress fracture comes at a bad time, as he will be forced to watch everyone else work out and show off their physical skills in front of every team in the league. While he can still interview and there’s plenty of tape to show off his considerable skills, the reality is that his stock might sink a bit if this becomes the tiebreaker for some teams between Foreman and another running back. After all, the position in this draft class is very deep according to most analysts.

Still Foreman, a large back at 6’1 and 249 lbs., should know the tape tells the bulk of his story, and even his NFL.com profile likens him to Jonathan Stewart. That is high praise and teams like the Chiefs looking for their new feature back, in their case to put in tandem with Spencer Ware, should already know enough about Foreman to make the decision.

Foreman rushed for 2,028 yards last year on 323 carries, good for an average of 6.3 yards/carry, and had 15 touchdowns on the ground. Here’s hoping Foreman’s injury isn’t a lingering one and that he’s able to alleviate concerns by Pro Day.
