Unfortunately the highlight from this game has been lost on YouTube so a full 2014 highlight will have to do. Or you could go here to see it on NFL.com. Seattle was heavily favored heading into this game, even in Arrowhead against a surging Chiefs team. Kansas City was riding a four-game winning streak and knew they could beat the best in the league. Arrowhead Stadium was also eager to prove to the Seahawks that they were the real “loudest stadium in the NFL.” The stage was set for an upset, and the Chiefs were helped by a herculean effort from Charles.
Throughout the game, Charles broke tackle after tackle against the “most feared defense in the NFL.” Often the Seahawks would only get one hand on him as he cut and dashed through their secondary. On only 20 attempts, Charles rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He accounted for 60% of the Chiefs’ total offense. Not that surprising considering the Chiefs’ receiving corps at the time.
His biggest run came on second and one at the start of the fourth quarter. Taking the handoff he left three Seahawk defenders grasping at air on his way to a 47-yard gain. The run set the Chiefs up at the four yard line, and Knile Davis punched in what would be the winning score.
